Beberapa adab ketika makan dalam Islam, diantaranya:

Makan yang halal dan baik

Hai sekalian manusia, makanlah yang halal lagi baik dari apa yang terdapat di bumi. [Al-Baqarah:168]

Dan makanlah makanan yang halal lagi baik dari apa yang Allah telah rezekikan kepadamu, dan bertakwalah kepada Allah yang kamu beriman kepada-Nya. [Al-Maidah:88]

Dan janganlah sebahagian kamu memakan harta sebahagian yang lain di antara kamu dengan jalan yang bathil dan (janganlah) kamu membawa (urusan) harta itu kepada hakim, supaya kamu dapat memakan sebahagian daripada harta benda orang lain itu dengan (jalan berbuat) dosa, padahal kamu mengetahui. [Al-Baqarah:188]

Dari Ka�b bin �Ujrah radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�Wahai Ka�b bin �Ujrah, sesungguhnya tidak berkembang suatu jasad yang tumbuh dari yang haram kecuali neraka lebih pantas untuknya�. [Sunan Tirmidziy: Sahih]

Tidak berlebihan

Makan dan minumlah, dan janganlah berlebih-lebihan. Sesungguhnya Allah tidak menyukai orang-orang yang berlebih-lebihan. [Al-A�raaf:31]

Tidak mengharamkan yang dihalalkan

Hai orang-orang yang beriman, janganlah kamu haramkan apa-apa yang baik yang telah Allah halalkan bagi kamu, dan janganlah kamu melampaui batas. Sesungguhnya Allah tidak menyukai orang-orang yang melampaui batas. [Al-Maidah:87]

Tidak kikir terhadap diri sendiri

Dari Abdullah bin �Amr radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�Sesungguhnya pada jasadmu ada hak atas dirimu�. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Tidak memakai bejana dari emas atau perak

Dari Hudzaifah radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

????? ?????????? ??? ??????? ????????? ???????????? ????? ?????????? ??? ??????????? ?????????? ?????? ??? ?????????? ??????? ??? ????????? [ ???? ???????]

�Jangan kalian minum dengan bejana emas dan perak, dan jangan makan dengan piring tersebut, karena sesungguhnya bejana yang demikian untuk orang kafir di dunia dan untuk kita di akhirat�. [Sahih Bukhari]

Mengajak orang lain untuk makan bersama

Dari Jabir bin Abdillah radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??????? ?????????? ??????? ????????????? ????????? ???????????? ??????? ?????????????? ????????? ????????????? ??????? ??????????????� [???? ????]

�Makanan untuk satu orang cukup untuk dua orang, dan makanan untuk dua orang cukup untuk empat orang, dan makan empat orang cukup untuk delapan orang�. [Sahih Muslim]

Makan bersama-sama lebih baik

{?????? ?????????? ??????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ???? ??????????} [?????: 61]

Tidak ada halangan bagi kamu makan bersama-sama mereka atau sendirian. [An-Nuur:61]

Dari Wahsyiy bin Harb radhiyallahu 'anhu; Sahabat Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bertanya: Ya Rasulullah kenapa kami makan tapi tidak bisa kenyang?

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam berkata:

�????????????? ??????????????�

�Mungking kalian makan sendiri-sendiri�.

Sahabat menjawab: Betul.

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�Kumpulkanlah makanan kalian (makan bersama) dan sebutlah nama Allah ketika makan maka kalian akan diberkahi pada makanan tersebut�. [Sunan Abu Daud: Hadits hasan]

Mendahulukan orang yang lebih tua dan mulia

Hudzaifah radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

?????? ????? ????????? ???? ?????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???????? ???? ?????? ??????????? ?????? ???????? ??????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???????? ?????? [???? ????]

Dahulu jika kami menghadiri jamuan makan bersama Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam, kami tidak meletakkan tangan kami pada makanan sampai Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam mulai meletakkan tangannya. [Sahih Muslim]

Makan bersama pembantu

Dari Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�????? ????? ?????????? ????????? ???????????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ??????? ?????????????? ???????? ???? ???????????? ???? ???????? ???? ????????????? ????????? ?????? ?????????� [???? ???????]

"Jika pembantu seseorang dari kalian datang menghidangkan makanannya, maka jika ia tidak mengajaknya makan bersama, maka berilah padanya secuil atau dua cuil atau sesuap atau dua suap, karena sesungguhnya ialah yang telah membuatnya". [Sahih Bukhari]

Dalam riwayat lain:

��, maka ajaklah pembantunya duduk bersamanya kemudian makan, dan jika makanannya sedikit, maka letakkanlah pada tangannya secuil atau dua cuil dari makanan itu�. [Sahih Muslim]

Tidak duduk pada hidangan yang ada minuman kerasnya (khamar)

Dari Jabir bin Abdillah radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

???? ????? ???????? ????????? ?????????? ??????? ????? ???????? ????? ????????? ??????? ????????? ?????????? [??? ???????: ???? ????????]

�Barangsiapa yang beriman kepada Allah dan hari akhirat maka janganlah ia duduk pada hidangan yang dihidangkan di atasnya khamar (minuman memabukkan)�. [Sunan Tirmidziy: Hasan]

Duduk melantai

Anas radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

�???????? ?????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ????????? ???????? ???????� [???? ????]

Aku melihat Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam duduk melantai (pantatnya menyentuh tanah) sambil makan kurma. [Sahih Muslim]

Abdullah bin Busr radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata: Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam memiliki piring besar yang diberi nama �Al-Garaa�� yang hanya bisa diangkat oleh empat orang laki-laki, maka ketika mereka menyembelih dan shalat Dhuha, piring besar itu didatangkan �yang telah berisi makanan-, maka mereka duduk di sekelilingnya, kemudian setelah banyak yang berkumpul, Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam duduk dengan lututnya. Maka seorang A�rabi bertanya: Ada apa dengan gaya duduk ini?

Nabis shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�????? ??????? ????????? ??????? ????????? ?????? ??????????? ????????? ????????� [??? ??? ????: ????]

�Sesungguhnya Allah menjadikanku seorang hamba yang pemurah, dan tidak menjadikanku sewenang-wenang (sombong) lagi menentang (kebenaran)�. [Sunan Abi Daud: Sahih]

Tidak bersandar

Dari Abu Juhaifah radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�Aku tidak makan sambil bersandar�. [Sahih Bukhari]

Tidak tengkurap

Dari Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�????? ??????? ??????? ?????? ????? ???????? ?????????? ???? ???????? ?????????? ?????? ?????????? ????? ????????� [??? ??? ????: ???? ????????]

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam melarang seseorang untuk makan dalam keadaan tidur tengkurap. [Sunan Ibnu Majah: Hasan]

Makan duduk kecuali ada hajat

Anas bin Malik radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

�????? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ????? ???? ???????? ????????? ????????�

�Sesungguhnya Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam melarang seseorang minum sambil berdiri�

Qatadah bertanya kepada Anas: Bagaimanan dengan makan?

Anas menjawab:

�Itu lebih buruk� [Sahih Muslim]

Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma berkata:

�?????? ???????? ????? ?????? ??????? ??????? ?????? ??????? ???????? ????????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ???????� [??? ???????: ????]

Dulunya kami makan pada masa Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam dan kami sedang berjalan, dan kami minum dalam keadaan berdiri. [Sunan Tirmidziy: Sahih]

Mendahulukan makan ketika sudah masuk waktu shalat atau ingin buang hajat

Dari Aisyah radhiyallahu 'anha; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??? ??????? ?????????? ??????????? ????? ???? ??????????? ??????????????� [???? ????]

�Tidak sepurnah shalat ketika telah hadir hidangan makanan, dan tidak pula ketika ia menahan buang hajat�. [Sahih Muslim]

Dari Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�????? ?????? ??????? ?????????? ??????????? ??????????? ??????????? ??????????? ????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ??????� [???? ??????? ?????]

�Jika makan malam seseorang dari kalian sudah dihidangkan kemudian iqamah untuk shalat dikumandangkan, maka mulailah dengan makan malam, dan jangan terburu-buru sampai ia selesai dari makannya�. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Makan tergesa-gesa ketika ada kesibukan

Anas radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

�?????? ??????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ????????? ???????? ?????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ?????????? ?????? ??????????? ???????? ?????? ??????? ????????� [???? ????]

Didatangkan kepada Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam kurma, kemudian Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam sibuk membaginya dan beliau duduk melantai, sambil makan darinya secara tergesa-gesa. [Sahih Muslim]

Berwudhu sebelum makan ketika dalam keadaan junub

Aisyah radhiyallahu 'anha berkata:

�????? ??????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???? ???????? ???? ???????? ????????? ????????? ???????????� [???? ????]

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam jika sedang junub dan beliau ingin makan atau tidur, beliau berwudhu seperti wudhunya untuk shalat. [Sahih Muslim]

Membaca doa sebelum makan

Dari Jabir bin Abdillah radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

????? ?????? ????????? ????????? ???????? ????? ?????? ????????? ???????? ?????????? ????? ????????????: ??? ??????? ??????? ????? ???????? ??????? ??????? ?????? ???????? ????? ?????? ?????????? ????? ????????????: ???????????? ??????????? ??????? ???? ???????? ????? ?????? ?????????? ?????: ???????????? ?????????? ???????????? " [???? ????]

�Jika seseorang masuk ke rumahnya dan menyebut nama Allah ketika masuk dan ketika makan, setan berkata kepada sesamanya: Tidak ada penginapan dan makanan untuk kalian. Dan jika ia masuk rumah dan tidak menyebut nama Allah ketika masuk, setan berkata: Kalian mendapatkan penginapan. Dan jika ia tidak menyebut nama Allah ketika makan, setan berkata: Kalian mendapatkan penginapan dan makanan�. [Sahih Muslim]

Hudzaifah radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata: Suatu ketika kami menghadiri jamuan makan bersama Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam, kemudian datang gadis kecil seolah-olah ada yang mendorongnya, kemudian ia bergegas meletakkan tangannya pada makanan. Maka Rasulullah memegang tangannya, kemudian datang lagi seorang A�rabiy seolah-olah ia didorong, maka beliau memegang tangannya, kemudian beliau bersabda:

�????? ???????????? ??????????? ?????????? ???? ??? ???????? ????? ????? ????????? ????????? ????? ???????? ???????????? ????????????? ????? ?????????? ?????????? ??????? ??????? ??????????????? ????????????? ???? ?????????? ????????? ????????? ??????? ????????? ????? ?????? ??? ????? ???? ???????� [???? ????]

�Sesungguhnya setan menghalalkan makanan jika tidak disebut nama Allah atasnya, dan sesungguhnya ia datang bersama gadis kecil ini untuk menghalalkan makanan maka aku memegang tangannya, kemudian datang dengan A�rabiy ini untuk menghalalkannnya maka aku memegang tangannya, dan demi Yang jiwaku di tangan-Nya, sesungguhnya tangan setan ada pada tanganku bersama tangan gadis kecil ini�. [Sahih Muslim]

Memakan apa yang ada di dekatnya

Umar bin Abu Salamah radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata: Waktu aku masih kecil dan berada di bawah asuhan Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, tanganku bersileweran di nampan saat makan. Maka Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda:

�??? ???????? ????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ?????? ?????? ???????� [???? ??????? ?????]

"Wahai anak kecil, bacalah Bismilillah, makanlah dengan tangan kananmu dan makanlah makanan yang ada di hadapanmu."

Maka seperti itulah cara makanku setelah itu. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Tidak langsung memakan dua potong atau dua biji saat makan berjama�ah

Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma berkata:

�????? ?????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???? ???????? ????????? ?????? ??????????????? ????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????� [???? ??????? ?????]

Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam melarang seseorang makan dua biji kurma secara bersamaan sampai ia meminta izin kepada temannya. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Makan dari sisi bejana

Dari Abdullah bin Busr radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�?????? ???? ????????????? ???????? ???????????? ????????? ??????� [??? ??? ????: ????]

�Makanlah kalian dari sisi bejana, dan jangan memulai dari tengahnya, maka akan diberkahi pada makanan itu� [Sunan Abi Daud: Sahih]

Dari Ibnu Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�?????????? ???????? ????? ??????????? ???????? ???? ???????????? ????? ?????????? ???? ???????� [??? ???????: ????]

�Berkah itu turun pada tengah makanan, maka mulailah makan dari pinggirnya, dan janganlah mulai makan dari tengahnya�. [Sunan Tirmidziy: Sahih]

Tidak mencela makanan

Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

�??? ????? ?????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ???????? ????????� [???? ??????? ?????] 

Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam tidak pernah mencela makanan sekalipun, jika ia suka ia makan, dan jika ia tidak suka ia tinggalkan. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Memuji makanan

Jabir bin Abdillah radhiyallahu 'anhuma berkata: Suatu hari Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam menggandeng tanganku menuju rumahnya, kemudian dihidangkan padanya sepotong roti, maka beliau bertanya:

�??? ???? ???????�

�Apa makanan pelengkapnya?�

Mereka menjawab: Tidak ada sesuatu kecuali acar (asam-asaman)!

Beliau bersabda:

�??????? ???????? ?????? ?????????�

�Sesungguhnya sebaik-baik makanan pendamping adalah acar�.

Jabir berkata: Maka aku senantiasa menyukai acar sejak aku mendengar itu dari Nabi shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam. [Sahih Muslim]

Tidak meniup makanan

Ibnu Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma berkata:

�????? ??????? ??????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???? ????????? ??? ?????????? ????????????� [???? ????: ????]

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam melarang meniup pada makanan dan minuman. [Musnad Ahmad: Sahih]

Tidak memakan makanan yang masih panas

Dari Asma� binti Abi Bakr radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Bahwasanya jika ia membuat tsariid (makanan), ia menutupnya dengan sesuatu sampai uap panasnya hilang, kemudian berkata: Sesungguhnya aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??????? ???????? ????????????� [???? ????: ???]

�Sesungguhnya itu lebih banyak mendatangkan berkah�. [Musnad Ahmad: Hasan]

Makan dengan tangan kanan

Dari Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�????? ?????? ?????????? ???????????? ???????????? ??????? ?????? ???????????? ??????????? ??????? ???????????? ???????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????� [???? ????]

�Jika seseorang dari kalian makan maka makanlah dengan tangan kanannya, dan jika minum minumlah dengan tangan kanannya, karena sesungguhnya setan makan dengan tangan kirinya dan minum dengan tangan kirinya� [Sahih Muslim]

Salamah bin Al-Akwa� radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata: Seseorang makan dengan tangan kiri di sisi Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam, maka Rasulullah berkata kepadanya:

�???? ???????????�

�Makanlah dengan tangan kanan�.

Orang itu menjawab: Aku tidak bisa.

Maka Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam berdo�a atasnya:

�??? ???????????� [???? ????]

�Kamu tidak akan bisa�.

Tidak ada yang menghalangi orang tersebut makan dengan tangan kanan kecuali rasa sombong, maka iapun tidak mampu mengangkat tangannya ke mulut. [Sahih Muslim]

Dari Jabir bin Abdillah radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??? ?????????? ????????????? ??????? ???????????? ???????? ????????????� [???? ????]

�Janganlah kalian makan dengan tangan kiri, karena sesungguhnya setan itu makan dengan tangan kiri�. [Sahih Muslim]

Makan dengan tiga jari

Ka�ab bin Malik radhiyallahu 'anhu berkata:

�????? ??????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ???????? ????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ???????????� [???? ????]

Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam makan dengan tiga jari, dan menjilat tangannya sebelum melap atau mencucinya. [Sahih Muslim]

Tidak menyisakan makanan di tangan dan di piring

Dari Jabir radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam memerintahkan kepada orang yang selesai makan untuk menjilat tangan dan piringnya dan bersabda:

????????? ??? ????????? ??? ??????? ??????????? [???? ????]

�Sesungguhnya kalian tidak tahu di mana berkah makanan itu berada�. [Sahih Muslim]

Dari Ibnu Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

????? ?????? ?????????? ????????? ????? ???????? ?????? ?????? ??????????? [???? ????]

�Jika seseorang dari kalian makan, maka janganlah ia membasuh tangannya sebelum menjilatnya�. [Sahih Muslim]

Memungut makanan yang jatuh

Dari Anas radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam jika selesai makan beliau menjilat tangannya tiga kali, dan bersabda:

????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ?????????? ??????? ???????? ???????????????? ????? ????????? ????????????? [???? ????]

�Jika makanan seseorang dari kalian jatuh maka pungutlah dan bersihkan kotoran yang menempel padanya kemudian makan, dan janganlah ia membiarkannya untuk setan�. [Sahih Muslim]

Menyuapi istri

Dari Sa�ad bin Abi Waqqash radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??????? ???? ???????? ???????? ????????? ????? ?????? ??????? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ?????? ??? ???????? ??? ???? ???????????� [???? ??????? ?????]

�Sesungguhnya engkau tidak menafkahkan satu nafkah dengan mengharapkan wajah Allah kecuali engkau diberi ganjaran atasnya, sampai apa yang engkau suapkan pada mulut istrimu (juga mendapat pahala)�. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Tidak makan sampai kenyang

Dari Miqdam bin Ma�di Kariib radhiyallahu 'anhu; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�??? ?????? ???????? ??????? ?????? ???? ??????. ???????? ????? ????? ????????? ???????? ????????? ?????? ????? ??? ????????? ???????? ??????????? ???????? ??????????? ???????? ??????????� [??? ???????: ????]

"Tidak ada yang sering dipenuhi oleh seorang manusia yang lebih berbahaya dari pada perutnya, cukupalah anak cucu Adam baginya beberapa suap untuk menguatkan badannya, jika tidak cukup maka jadikanlah sepertiga perutnya untuk makanan, sepertiga untuk minuman, dan sepertiganya lagi untuk bernafas.� [Sunan Tirmidzi: Sahih]

Aisyah radhiyallahu 'anha berkata:

�??? ?????? ??? ????????? ?????? ????? ???????? ????????? ?????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ??????? ????? ??????? ??????? ????????? ?????? ??????� [???? ??????? ?????]

�Keluarga Muhammad shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam tidak pernah kenyang selama tiba di Madinah dari makanan gandum selama tiga malam berturu-turut sampa beliau wafat�. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Dari Ibnu Umar radhiyallahu 'anhuma; Rasulullah shallallahu �alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

�?????????? ???????? ??? ????? ???????? ??????????? ???????? ??? ???????? ?????????� [???? ??????? ?????]

�Orang beriman makan pada satu usus, sedangkan orang kafir makan pada tujuh usus�. [Sahih Bukhari dan Muslim]

Berdo�a setelah makan
